Planter Design at Brent Cross Town – Project Spotlight

The planter design at Brent Cross Town, a groundbreaking £8 billion development in North London, is transforming the roof terrace area into a vibrant, sustainable space. This ambitious project, spearheaded by Barnet Council and Related Argent, aims to create a ‘park town’ that blends residential, commercial, and leisure spaces. With its impressive array of amenities and thoughtful urban planning, Brent Cross Town is poised to become a model for sustainable urban development.

The Planter Design:  Edging and Seating

We’re proud to be playing a part in this project, assisting Exterior Architecture throughout the design stages and manufacturing the planter edging and seating elements that will add character to one of the roof terrace areas.  The roof design plays a vital role in enhancing the project’s aesthetic appeal, functionality, and overall sustainability.

The planter edging design, which includes various styles, soil depths and seating elements defines and enhances the landscaped areas, providing a visually pleasing and functional framework for planting.  The integrated and free-standing seating elements offer comfortable and stylish places for residents and visitors to relax, socialize, and enjoy the park-like atmosphere.

Specialist Steel Finish

The planter edging features a stylish Syntha Pulvin Concrete Ash finish with a matte texture, adding a modern and sophisticated touch to the landscaped areas.

Committed to biodiversity net gain, Brent Cross Town is ensuring that the development creates or enhances wildlife habitats to offset any potential losses. The landscaping incorporates native plant species, supporting local ecosystems and attracting a diverse range of wildlife. Sustainable drainage systems (SUDs) are being implemented to manage rainwater runoff, reducing the burden on the local infrastructure and promoting healthy watercourses.

The development’s focus on sustainability extends to its buildings, which are designed to be highly energy efficient and incorporate renewable energy sources. Low-carbon materials, such as timber, are used in construction to reduce the project’s carbon footprint. Water-saving measures, including rainwater harvesting and efficient fixtures, further enhance the development’s sustainability.

Brent Cross Town is also committed to community engagement and education. Nature trails and educational programs will connect residents and visitors with the natural environment, promoting environmental awareness. Community gardens and green roofs provide opportunities for residents to participate in gardening and sustainable practices.
