Marshall’s Mill is a key historic landmark in Leeds, reflecting the city’s rich industrial heritage. Originally built as a flax spinning mill in Holbeck, it played a significant role during the Industrial Revolution, boasting 7,000 steam-powered spindles in the mid-1800s. Today, the former mill has been transformed into part of the vibrant Round Foundry & Marshall’s Mill estate, seamlessly blending history with modern urban use. The building retains elements of its industrial past while housing a thriving community of businesses and creatives.

Key Features Include:

Historic Legacy: Marshall’s Mill was originally a four-storey structure built by industrial pioneer John Marshall. Over the years, the complex grew to include additional mills, warehouses, and engine houses, becoming one of the largest factories in the world and employing over 2,000 workers.

Unique Heritage: The site is home to a Grade II listed building and showcases the iconic Temple Works addition. A sculpture of sheep outside the building references the historical practice of sheep grazing on the roof of Temple Works in the 1800s.
