The project is made up of three towers arranged around landscaped public plazas. The orientation of the towers reflects the strong angled landscape axis set by the Green Dock in the Thames Barrier Park. The Green dock is a former dry dock, therefore set at an angle to the river Thames. Approximately halfway the residential towers are residents roof gardens, featuring green areas, hidden ventilation, planter edging, wall top seating and cube seats. The gardens boast exceptional views over the Thames Barrier Park.
The client wanted to achieve an intimate, private atmosphere for the roof gardens. This was partly achieved by using smaller planters in a complex arrangement of interlinking shapes and sizes. This meant that the planter edge had to be precisely angled to achieve the desired aesthetic.
The main product used for the planter edging on the roof gardens was the Stapel planter edge, manufactured from galvanised mild steel to give long term protection against corrosion and rust, then powder coated with a sepia coloured RAL finish. The edging was supplied in 2 different heights to further strengthen the intimate feel of the garden.
