Revised plans to transform a former industrial site in Leicester’s Waterside regeneration area into hundreds of student flats and private apartments has now been complete.
Watkin Jones Group developed the vacant land bounded by All Saints Road, Bath Lane, Jarvis Street and Ruding Street into 464 student bedrooms and 184 residential apartments.
The company completed the neighbouring Merlin Heights scheme in recent years which acted as the first phase of its overall development.
Logic’s raised planter edging and Velox Rapid Edge™ system, allowed the area to be foundation free (no concrete required) and removed over 9,300kg of Co2 on the scheme. Working along side Geosythetics and Afan Landscapes this created a vibrant area for students to relax and recharge.
The client took advantage of the open courtyard, using straight and
curved Stapel raised planter edge modular sections to make bespoke shapes that incorporate Squared integrated seating at various locations within the planters.
A ventilation shaft from the car-park below was sectioned off by higher sections of edging showing the adaptability of the system.
