The vision behind Scape Canada Water was to create a student accommodation that balances modern convenience with sustainable living. Located in a bustling urban area, the development needed to provide a calm, community-focused environment that offers access to green spaces without compromising on space efficiency or environmental impact. The architects aimed to deliver a vibrant, eco-friendly design that promotes well-being, community interaction, and easy connectivity to central London.
One of the key challenges was the limited site area and the surrounding urban context, requiring creative solutions to maximize space without overcrowding. The project also needed to meet stringent sustainability requirements while addressing the specific needs of students, such as communal areas and outdoor spaces that foster social engagement. The landscaping team provided innovative solutions, including green roofs and rainwater harvesting systems to minimize environmental impact. Outdoor seating areas and courtyards were designed to enhance the sense of community with the inclusion of sports facilities while using native plants to promote biodiversity and sustainability throughout the development.
